Volunteering

We believe volunteers provide a genuine relationship            between projects and the community.

Our volunteer programme offers local residents and service users an opportunity to develop new skills, build self-confidence and contribute to improving the quality of their neighbourhood.

We offer the space and support for volunteers to develop and gain transferable skills, to make new contacts and to become able to move on to new training and to seek employment.

RDLAC is an appealing hub for people interested in volunteering, whether it is with children or young people, older people or special interest groups.

We work with Newham Work Experience to offer young people the opportunity to gain experience in fields they would like to explore and possibly develop further in the future.

Examples of volunteering opportunities include:

  • receptionist/ customer services

  • administrative work

  • gardening

  • mini-bus driver

  • supporting delivery of project activities/ project assistants

  • setting up and running self-help groups

  • helping at Centre events

  • working with children in our After School Club

  • helping on children’s holiday schemes

  • finance assistant

  • computer tutor
